
BIO OF YVETTA D. FRANKLIN
Yvetta D. Franklin was born May 31 in Chicago, IL. With a head full of curly red locks she was affectionately coined the middle name “Doll”. She later relocated to California where she attended various schools and earned the following degrees and credentials:
- Associate of Arts Degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences- Merritt Jr. College/Peralta, Oakland, CA.
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies/Social Sciences Option- California State University, Hayward, CA.
- Teachers Credential-Authorized Field: General Subjects Multiple Subjects-matter K-12
- Administrator’s Credential -Authorized Field: General Subjects- Multiple Subjects-matter K-12
- Masters of Science Degree-Walden University, Minneapolis, MN-Elementary Reading & Literacy (MSERL)
Yvetta’s professional and personal affiliations are: California Teachers Association, Hayward Educational Association, Hayward Area Historical Society Community Advisory Council and Palma Ceia Baptist Church.
Yvetta’s first work assignment was at Blue Cross Insurance Co. in Oakland, CA. After twenty years of claims processing and auditing responsibilities, she transferred to Prudential Insurance where she served as Assistant to the Executive Director. Ultimately, Yvetta left the Insurance industry in exchange for a profusely fulfilling career. She became a teacher! She worked for Oakland Public Schools and later transferred to Hayward Unified Schools where she continues to teach. She sits on the Site Based Decision Committee at her school. She is the Teacher/Parent Liaison, After School Intervention teacher and pianist for school assemblies and promotions. Yvetta has been nominated and included in Who’s Who among Teachers two years consecutively. These nominations can only come from prior elementary students who are presently in college and on the Dean’s List of their universities.
Yvetta (aka Doll) Franklin is a widow, mother, teacher, and author. She has taught 1st- 5th graders and adults successfully. She LOVES teaching. She ignites and excites her students to learn. “I try to color the lives of my pupils with joy, values and confidence.” Yvetta has been written up in several local newspapers and The California Educator Magazine for making connections with her students and flavoring her class with humor. She has one daughter; Stephanie whom she loves to pieces. Stephanie is a college graduate from Grambling State University-Biological Studies & Research. Yvetta co-authored her first young person’s chapter book titled “The Code Switch” ISBN# 9781497596610. “Deleting Files” ISBN# 9781519401670 is her second novel. "Switch-a-Roo: Who are YOU?" ISBN# 9781975630805 is her newest release.
