DEGREES AND CREDENTIALS:
|
Yvetta is a retired tenured celebrated elementary teacher of 20 years. She was nominated and included in Who's Who' Among Teachers in America two years consecutively. She has been the topic in several local newspapers and The California Educator Magazine for making powerful connections with her students and flavoring her class with love, laughter, and humor.
BECOMING AN AUTHOR
Yvetta co-authored her first young person chapter book titled “THE CODE SWITCH.” Soon after that publication she decided to pen various behaviors she saw on the school grounds in paperback form. Children seeing playmates, not ethnicities, children building relationships and embracing diversities. Sadly, children hurt others for lack of wisdom. She particularly chose to highlight characters in her books with disabilities/shortcomings because she strongly believes they are just as significant and remarkable as their able-bodied peers. They too aspire to see the fulfillment of their dreams, as dreams do come true. From this inspiration, came her resulting book titled “SWITCH-a-ROO, WHO ARE YOU?” A student of hers had been sexually abused. This horrific incident motivated Yvetta to write “DELETING FILES” to give voice to the walking wounded, and hopefully heal and encourage victims to speak out.
TODAY
Yvetta is a newlywed, First Lady of Grace Missionary Baptist Church-Sacramento, CA. church musician, bible teacher, mother, and children’s author. She has one beautiful daughter, Stephanie whom she loves immensely. Stephanie is a proud college graduate of Grambling State University -Biological Studies & Research.
