DEGREES AND CREDENTIALS:
|

Yvetta is a retired tenured celebrated elementary teacher of 20 years. She was nominated and included in Who's Who' Among Teachers in America two years consecutively. She has been the topic in several local newspapers and The California Educator Magazine for making powerful connections with her students and flavoring her class with love and humor.
BECOMING AN AUTHOR
After helping a friend with her first book, several years later Yvetta co-authored her first young person’s chapter book titled “The Code Switch” in 2013, with that same friend. The following year she decided to put various issues and topics that she personally observed on the school grounds in paperback form (kids competing, kids playing together, kids being jealous of one another, etc.) She especially chose to highlight characters in her books that had disabilities, because she strongly believes that they are just as important and remarkable! They too have aspirations and hopes, just as their able-bodied peers. One of her students confided in her that they had been sexually abused. This horribly appalling incident inspired Yvetta to write Deleting Files as a way to give a voice to the walking wounded, and possibly the courage for others (both children and adults) to speak up about their experiences.
TODAY
Yvetta is a newlywed and first lady, mother and author. She has one beautiful daughter, Stephanie, whom she loves to pieces. Stephanie is a proud college graduate from Grambling State University-Biological Studies & Research.
